Blood type that is...
Last week we were out and about at TraderJoe's and I noticed the Ann Arundel Medical Center Blood Donor Bus in the parking lot. I haven't given blood in awhile, so I heeded the nudge of my intuition and made my husband do a u-turn to head back to the parking lot. Dave's a great guy who has learned, through the years, to follow along with the intuition thing. Anyway, the bus was a welcomed break from the 90+ weather, the techs were very nice and professional and I got a chance to help someone, eat peanut butter crackers, and sip a fruity drink (both of which I normally wouldn't touch, due to the sweet goodness). We also rec'd a free coupon to one of the local movie theaters and 2 Chick-fil-A freebie sandwhiches. A total score, since we were heading over to see the DeathlyHallows Part 2 and hadn't had lunch yet. Who knew freebies would be included. It's great to give, and awesome to receive.
Do you know your blood type? What if there was an emergency in your family, or community and there was a shortage of blood? Are you a universal donor, or someone with a rare bloodtype? Get some helpful info about your blood, and fun info about it at the following links.
Blood Types and valuable info can be found on the American Red Cross website.
Some fun things to ponder about your blood, characteristics of bloodtypes and types of food that you might like to incorporate in your diet can be found at TheNaturalHealthPlace. Maybe some of these ideas will apply to you.
Oh, I almost forgot... another plus was that they took my blood pressure and cholesterol and it was all good. Something else I never think to follow up with. Check, check, double check.
If you're healthy, and would consider donating blood, I'll definitely raise my needles and give you a full blown knitter's salute. Ever seen one of those? They are magnificent. You knitters know what I'm talkin' 'bout. Whoo hoo!
