Dear John and Melissa,
The hive appears to have been hacked by this bizarrely rude whatever it is. My notifications box is full of comments from this member. Can you remove them from the Hive?
Thanks,
thredz

The Hive has been hit again for the last few days with spammers. It's beyond annoying!

I cannot for the life of me figure out what the jolly is with hacking. I wish I had the time to throw away!

We had just put in new spammer curbs, which seemed to be working... then suddenly they found their way around them. (Or, the new blockers failed when we had to change coding because members weren't getting any notifications after the new filters went in.) It's really frustrating. We do delete them everyday - several times a day, which deletes them from the blogs. Unfortunately we can't delete the email notifications that were sent when they commented. If you see multiple comments from the same person, just delete them. We will delete the spammers (and everything that they brought) the first opportunity we have. Sorry for the inconvenience they cause - for everyone... |

Melissa, you and John do a great job! It's too bad people don't have anything better to do with their time. After all, it does them no good to post spam on any blog. Nobody is going to click there links for fear of getting a computer virus or malware. On the note about notifications, I am still not getting any notifications. They just stopped completely this week. There one day, gone the next. Is there something that I need to take care of in my profile that needs to be turned back on? Nothing has changed in my e-mail settings. Thanks! Dawn |

Are you saying you are getting zero updates? I still get notification updates, but oddly, I don't necessarily get ALL of them (I don't get notified if someone has commented on my own postings, for instance. The comments I received were from having joined the New Members Group and a couple of others, specifically the comments were made to your posting of a "Welcome message to new members". I don't know what kind of hosting I am using, cuz I only go to the "creating the hive" website to read my notifications, etc. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. The comments were made to several posts I "follow" and they were nonsensical solicitations to follow links. I didn't click on the links, but I am pretty sure they wouldn't have taken me anywhere I would like to have gone! |

Melissa, Interestingly enough, I got notifications that you each commented this morning. Prior to that I hadn't gotten anything at all. But this morning I got notification of a few people that had commented on my blog posts, then I got the What's Happening e-mail and a few new blog posts. So all of the bugs seem to have work themselves out (fingers crossed.) LOL I swear, severs are sometimes more sensitive than pregnant women. :o) Hope you both have a great day! |
