Dept. of Mental Health--we have a problem...

So funny how I was taking pics of my disgusting dillema at the same time that Susan Faye was posting her blog on overwhelming collecting and the devastation it can cause.

This is my family room/TV room. Today. Feb. 2, 2012:

Santa Collection, Christmas DecorThis represents a small portion of my Santa Collection. And the sad state of the sea of misery that my family room has become. Now, that large-ish rectangular box to the right is where most of these guys will go--including my all-time fave:

Santa lanternSorry the pic is blurry, but the little Santa lantern is from my '60s childhood, he runs on C batteries and flashes on and off. I have changed his batteries over the years, but the rest of him is absolutely original. We thought we were so cool as kids...

And the partial Santa head under the table was my husband's 2011 addition to the chaos.

And my other mess o' Christmas decor way past their bedtime:

Christmas tree collection

This is the buffet in my tiny dining space, and these are just a very few of the Christmas trees I have around the house. I have no box for them, so I will have to rummage a couple of tubs to get them out of here (and there).

Side note: the beautiful ceramic vase was a b-day present from hubby. The balloon in the family room pic is a belated b-day gift from my 16 yr-old DD. It reads, "You're really, really, really old," methinks she needs a little fine-tuning.

So, I will accomplish a little something today (both kids home sick from school), but there is no telling when the twig tree will come down, and I still have the Martha Stewart  Revolving Christmas tree still decorated to the hilt in the living room. But we don't use the living room that much...and I'll have a jump on NEXT Christmas...

Helpless, helpless, heeeeeeelllllples! Ireally love Neil Young.

Last year I had my xmas tree up until Valentine's day! This year I only took it down a week ago so I understand.

Hahaha... maybe there is a 12-step program out there for us.... I LOVE that little Santa lantern...you WERE a cool kid if you had one of those and had the foresight to save it!

Well, Jenn, I have been known to have an Easter tree (with santas, tinsel and snowflakes intact), but I am hoping to get a little head of the game this year.

Susan, I wish I could say that my hoarding tendencies had such focus as a kid (all those Breyers horses!), but at least my tendencies come to me honestly: my Mother saved these for us; I am just the only one that appreciates them, so I guess that makes me the best child!

BTW, I did get the Santas and trees put away--my family hasn't even noticed...

Have you seen Carlin Davis' posts about X-mas trees? She can't seem to get away from the spirit of things either... I think it's an awesome idea to decorate your tree etc. for Every holiday!! No worries my friend, your perfect! And I'm not just saying that ~ wink ~ :O)

My "perfection" is only visible by very special peeps; glad you are (the only) one of them!

I would love to live in a Christmas shop, I think that might satisfy my obsession...maybe.

That Santa lantern is way cool! I thought I was going to keep Christmas up through January, but it was messing with my new year muse, so away it went I still have a shelf with a few Santas looking for new homes, but I don't want to pack them away.

Yes, it does get in the way of other things...I think I will keep a little Christmas out in my new paper space--if my new paper space ever gets to be a new paper space, and doesn't just turn into an old space full of dusty paper regardless of holiday.

THAT will be on my list for tomorrow.

And the next day, can I borrow your muse? I think I might have packed mine...

Lol! Yes, but I think it got misplaced by the lack of attention span I seem to have right now. Every year at this time I go through growing pains I think. Quick and cute creations versus taking my time, sketching things out and so on. Folk art versus fine art. I was asked to demo my sculpting at the Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts in Joseph, Oregon this June. Yipes! I know those folks are more upscale in style than my folk art sculpting. I will have to get to work on more serious stuff here. :-) So, now I have more to sort out mentally.... Lol... We should all have such problems right?
