So funny how I was taking pics of my disgusting dillema at the same time that Susan Faye was posting her blog on overwhelming collecting and the devastation it can cause.
This is my family room/TV room. Today. Feb. 2, 2012:
This represents a small portion of my Santa Collection. And the sad state of the sea of misery that my family room has become. Now, that large-ish rectangular box to the right is where most of these guys will go--including my all-time fave:
Sorry the pic is blurry, but the little Santa lantern is from my '60s childhood, he runs on C batteries and flashes on and off. I have changed his batteries over the years, but the rest of him is absolutely original. We thought we were so cool as kids...
And the partial Santa head under the table was my husband's 2011 addition to the chaos.
And my other mess o' Christmas decor way past their bedtime:
This is the buffet in my tiny dining space, and these are just a very few of the Christmas trees I have around the house. I have no box for them, so I will have to rummage a couple of tubs to get them out of here (and there).
Side note: the beautiful ceramic vase was a b-day present from hubby. The balloon in the family room pic is a belated b-day gift from my 16 yr-old DD. It reads, "You're really, really, really old," methinks she needs a little fine-tuning.
So, I will accomplish a little something today (both kids home sick from school), but there is no telling when the twig tree will come down, and I still have the Martha Stewart Revolving Christmas tree still decorated to the hilt in the living room. But we don't use the living room that much...and I'll have a jump on NEXT Christmas...
Helpless, helpless, heeeeeeelllllples! Ireally love Neil Young.
