I've been having a pretty good time at thrift stores the last couple of weeks. I thought I'd show you a few of my treasures.
We all know that I am ridiculously attached to old linens, and mean to die with enough to cover every last table, tuck a napkin under every chin, scarf every bureau, antimacassar every chairback, stuff every mouse hole, patch every tear, reclaim every...well anyway, you get the picture.
The Goodwill Bin Store is my heaven on earth. Honestly, for $1.10 a pound I can buy all the tom-foolery I want, and I do!
A great little linen pre-printed tea cloth (there even is a needle, and about 3 stitches (so far, 2 running in blue, and 1 petal in green--I guess it didn't take much to scare the happy housewife to stash this baby in the back of the basket!), some filet crochet pieces, and tablecloths, a huge linen embroidered tablecloth, some great bobbin lace. The silk scarf was just a lucky part of where the day's colorwheel spinner landed: peachy, greeny, ecru-ie textiles.
I rolled this little lap quilt around a wrapping paper tube (yup, still haven't put away the last of the Christmas wrap fest supplies), cuz there is a big ol' draft coming through the basement door into my baby paper space.
I also got a fantastic Day dress from the mid-sixties, in the same colorway of course. It's weird how often it happens, but I think it might just be that once I find something my eyes are trained for that color combo. Who knows, lucky for me it's one of my signature combos! I got another little quilt and an awesome "Pamplona" running of the bulls hankerchief.
And then yesterday, while my husband waited "patiently" (I had the keys, where was he gonna go?) I dashed into the reg. Goodwill and then to my local Kiwanis store and nabbed another pickle dish and candlestick:
It's very heavy, and evidently difficult to find the middle of...oops. At least it's not SO lopsided that it falls over, but I will take longer to get it right next time, the glue is kinda permanent--duh.
Now, with gas up to #@%$ $3.50+ a stinking gallon, the 25 mile jaught to the bin store won't be a weekly thing, maybe I will get more done at home...nnaaaahhhhh.
I will give thanks that my husband does not watch football...but to those who do: Happy Superbowl

That plater is just beautiful. I love all the linens that my grandmother had. I have a lot of them and I will love them and pass them on down to my two girls when I get to old for them. Thanks for sharing them with us.
