My New Beading Station!

I am REALLY excited, my friends.  I have finally finished my new sewing/beading space to the point that I actually started beading (gasp) again. Honestly, I haven't picked up beading needle and thread since leaving Maine in August. My craft room was such a disaster, Fall and Christmas took me to stitchery and cardmaking, and then the whole deluge catastrophy sent me reeling into a pit of angst heretofore unknown. But...

...THAT'S OVER NOW!!! I got to the point in my guestroom/craftroom that I could break from decorating and actually create something! But first, you have to see the space:

This is a detail of the trim I put at the horizon line where the blue and brown meet. It was an old sheet I ripped into long strips, I can change it out when I feel like tweaking the color pallette. I'm already leaning towards another fabric I have that has a coral pink in it, but at that point, I decided I had to STOP fooling around and call it finished.

My initial choices of brown and blue were just "from the gut," and I didn't really put that much into the rest of the plan--I went rainbow for awhile (I do love rainbows), but then I found the sweet greeny-blue and yellow flowered fabric and new I had to go that direction. Once that was done, I needed to "get the red out."

While moving my voluminous paper supplies to my new laundry room/craftroom I found my inspiration piece:

that's right, a coffee bag, but don't you love the colors and design?

So I spray painted my bead storage bins, got a couple of shelves at Home Depot, and voila, instant Karma.

I still have some ways to go, I love the look of my brother and sister's portrait (the artist coulda used a different blue, but it was painted 50 yrs ago) and need to work on where some other art will go. The (very) large sock stretcher was found in Maine. But the walls will have to wait, cuz I am creating a fantastic beaded piece that'll come along next! I just need to collect one more pic for that post, and then you'll see what I'm doing now.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are enjoying this winter day--my kids just called to let me know they are going to friends' houses after school--yay! Mine just got a little longer ;0

Love it when things click.

Aw shucks, thanks all.

The painting is of my brother and sister; my g-mother's next door neighbor was an aspiring artist, so she had them sit for her about 50 years ago--cute huh?

I am so happy with this space; the window is a great asset, but I still have to share the space with my kids and their friends--or else I would have taken up the whole room--some day, some day...
