Do you know what's in your dog or cat's food?

Many of you know that recently we suffered the loss of our dog Max, very suddenly.  As we search for answers, for ourselves and the other pet owners in our little town who have lost their dogs within days in the same manner, my husband came across two websites that you might find helpful if you have a cat or dog. You may be surprised by what is being included in dogfood, especially.  There has been some regulation for cat food in the past few years due to direct illness and death of certain ingreidients, but this is an ongoing issue in the industry.

Both links are updated periodically.  I hope this gives you valuable information for you to keep your four legged family members well.

Yes, Cindy it is quite scarey.  Sometimes manufacturers change and formulas are changed for the better, but not always.  The top four products with good ratings by either or both websites can give you an idea of what you should be looking for in your cat food.  Sometimes, it is also a matter of knowing that your pet needs a certain amount of an ingreident such as protein, vitamens, etc. in their food.  That's when a knowledgeable vet can make a big difference.  It really makes you think twice.  A friend of mine in CA is a Yorkie breeder and she also recommended that the more natural products out there be stored properly and not kept pass their freshness to prevent sickness.
