Bumbles in the HIVE? Show me your favorite...

We all know that I LOVE bumble bees!! I just do! I have photos and art pieces of them all overy my home. I've loved them for years. This is one of the reasons why we are playing in a place called The Hive!

Well.... last night I found another Queen Bee (another colony of course)

Her site is really pretty cool... but what I really fell in love with is her avatar... Look at that! Awesome! Then in conversation on twitter, she told me that she has somone who is making her a hat like that. (Yes, you hear jealousy in my typed words now!)

Well.... I got to thinking that there is sooo much cool bee stuff out there I wanted to see what all you know about! So... before we start our next Hive Creative Challenge - let's have a little bee fun....

Show me your favorite bee stuff - put it in an etsy treasury, copy and paste the photos (with linkbacks on where to buy it - no stealing copyright stuff here!) If you make bee goodies - show 'em to us!

I will have a little prize for my favorite!

quilting bees

Melissa, this is a greeting card from one of my favourite artists Lucy Ogletree. She's a local artist whose home and studio are about 20 minutes away from me in Sparta, Ontario. She does folk art paintings (amont other things but that's her big focus) and then prints of these are made into calendars and cards and such. Here's her website http://www.winter-wheat.com/index.html I'm fortunate enough to be able to visit it in person - it's this lovely place set in amongst the woods with several outbuildings and beautiful gardens filled with her artwork. She has coffee, tea, and cookies and other goodies in the outbuildings and comfy places to sit and invites her visitors to just sit down and absorb the tranquility of the surroundings. You feel like you're in another world and that nothing outside that world matters - all that matters is the calm and the beauty of this place and this moment. Anyway, I love her take on the bees....having them taking part in a quilting bee is just so cute and clever!

Thanks Cyn! Fabulous! It's perfect because the "quilting bee" are what finally made The Hive work for me as the name of this website... it's what I was trying to bring about... the community and bonding (along with craftsmanship) of the them... perfect piece!

Margaret - My oldest daughter is engaged and wants to have a baby soooo bad. I may need to get this to hold onto for my grandbaby (no rush) - bright colors and bumbles... how perfect!

Bridget - stunning! Of course you can post vintage, or whatever you like! I love looking at all kinds of bees... this is just a fun challenge.

Thanks, Melissa. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, but don't want to list it on eBay until I can get a better photo. I just posted it on FB though, so it's up for grabs in the meantime. ;)

Oh - should have added, the words around the edge are qualities of the bee as a totem animal. :)

Kind of late seeing this post,, gee, i should have been here along time ago with my latest hanging Spinner Doll,'Little Miss Bee" i even made her a little Tiara for her head. She is one of my" Almost so ugly she is cute" dolls! LOL Sure is alot of Buzz going on in here! LOL
