Doll WIP...."Shelly's Doll"......

A Custom order doll for Shelly.  Shelly keeps up with my posts here at the Hive.....so I am kinda giving her a peek and you guys too!

Shelly wants her doll to have LOTS of fibers for hair....and she is leaving the rest of the creating up to me......(she does like the way I dressed my Suede Sisters.....so I will make a sueded corset, and a fiber"ish" skirt)

Here is what she looks like so far.....

Although her body colors are a smidge pastel.....Her costuming will reflect more of a Fall look......

Two New Dolls....Autumn Sisters....

Autumn sisters, made in likeness of each other.  Using many of the same materials, yet with a different outcome for each.

That is the 1st one ....

And the 2nd one.......

Hope you enjoyed a "Splash" of Autumn!

Wednesday's "Work in Progress"...Doll WIP

Currently working on 2 dolls at once.  It's not the "usual" way I work, as it seems to slow me down.  But in this case, I wanted to make 2 girls that were  basically in the same color scheme, with the same type of "stuff"......so I am finding it a bit easier to work on these 2 at the same time.

She is wearing a fiber hat....and I am not sure if this will be her "final" hairstyle....

I worked yesterday on her VERY fiberous skirt....it is the same technique I use when making my "fairy shoes"....and decided to try it out as a skirt.

so many "goodies" were used....tons of silk scraps, ribbons, venice laces, and Dupioni silks....it seems a bit shameful to cut up such expensive fabrics.....but I think the end result is well worth it !

She is far from finished, but I thought I'd show what progress I have made.....Her matching counterpart is a little more done....

Dressed in Dupioni silk pantaloons, fiber wrist bands, gold trim, and lots of velvet ribbon!  Still have wings, beading, and final touches to do.......She does have her shoes on though....

Stayed tuned for the finish on these two "Fiber" sisters !

New Doll WIP........

Working on a new gal with some exciting fibers for her hair.  Love the color combinations so far.....her body colors and hair color are a sure match !

Assembling all her goodies that will make her come to life......stop again soon when she is completed!

Aren't the fibers cool....?     I bought them at Stitches Midwest Show a few months back......

Here are some of the components I plan to use....

She's kind of got a Fall look going so far....so she'll fit right in with the season !

Thanks for looking......

**~New Doll~**..."Pia"

Pia is the sueded sister to my last doll Gigi.   I really love them both due to their suede hair.  I am really sorry I did not buy more of this suede, but am continuing an internet search for it.  If I find it , I will offer some similar dolls in my etsy shop.

Here is "Pia"......

A side by side shot of Pia and Gigi....

Thanks so much everyone for stopping in and taking a look!

**~New Doll~** ...."Gigi".......

The 1st of my Sueded Sisters completed.  GiGi is adorned with suede hair and corset, silk wings, textural silk skirt, and she carries crystal silk baubles.  The first doll in a long time that did not require alot of beading! ( So it was a must that she carried her crystal baubles!)

Here is GiGi....

Sitting with her "soon-to-be" Sister...."Pia"........

Friday Doll WIP......

Moving away from the one color scheme of my "rainbow" dolls now.  Feels awesome to be working with an array of different colors.

I am always compelled to add something to my dolls heads.....sometimes flowers...sometimes hats.  Looking for your opinion on this one.

Does she look better with a plain head....flowers...or a hat ???????

I am finishing her skirt (which I love !)...tried making a vest, but ended up with a suede corset........

Her skirt and corset...

I really want to add these roses to her but can't decide......

maybe fewer....

maybe some kind of a hat ????

Maybe just a plain head?????

Watcha  think????

I had a heck of a time getting the photos to upload correctly...so don't mind the mixed up order of wording and photos!

****~~ My Rainbow Doll Collection~~****

Finally!  Feels like it took me a year to complete!   Hard to capture all of them together, I did my best.

I may try again in the future for more of a "polished...professional looking photo"

Here they are in their correct rainbow order... (above)

And below...in a little bit of a mixed-up order.....

 legs only.......

I like them better closer up and side by side.....loving the way all the colors "pop" off each other.......

Alright....mission accomplished!  Thanks so much to all of you who followed along...it really made it alot more fun !

Did I ever tell you about the strict rule here in the Cooper Home????

Have a great day everyone !

**~New Doll~**.....Carmine.....

Well Carmine completes my rainbow collection !   ( Yay...I am ready to move on....)

I am finding it a wee-bit  challenging to capture the whole rainbow together in a photo.   I have tried several posing options and will share those later today !  In the meantime here is Carmine....

As I said in a previous post , I felt  Carmine needed a few touches of pinks and burgundy.....and I threw a little gold in there too.....

I tried to give Carmine the same attention to detail as the other rainbow girls... even though my enthusiasm seemed to be dwindling! ( You know that feeling right at the end of a large project....you just want it to be over with !)

And just a head shot of the WHOLE rainbow!

Another post to come later today.....when I get all the photos prepared !

Ok....come back later......

Have a great day !

Doll Skirt Overlay Tutorial.......

Thought I'd show you the skirt technique I am using on Carmine.

I cut red squares of velvet (and hand frayed all those raw edges...ughh)....I layed them out on some sticky back water soluable stabilizer.....

Layed another piece of water solulable stabilizer on top....

Sewed in both directions , using a decorative stitch.......

I then dissolved the stabilizer which left all the velvet pieces connected, with a lacey thread pattern connecting them....(sorry , I forgot to show that part!)

So now I will connect the velvet to the skirt for lots of texture and interest.....

It's not sewn on yet just pinned....but you get the idea....

I will finish the skirt edging with some red lace I dyed.......

Still all pinned in place ......but it  gives you a look at how it will eventually turn out...

Hope you enjoyed it......
