Artist Profile

The mediums I work in range from water color, color pencils and ink to acrylic and latex. I paint on canvas, paper, walls, wood, furniture, or pvc materials. There is almost always glitter involved. I love sparkle.

While all of the previous artists still apply, Victoria MacKenzie-Childs, Maurice Sendak, Chris VanAllsburg, I find it necessary to make some additions.
Joni Nickrent, Carolee Clark, Debra Goode, Patrick Gill, really the list goes on and on. Hivers all. They are all extraordinarily talented artists. But that is not why they inspire me.
I have noticed they fearlessly do and post almost, if not daily here and/or in their blogs. They create and share. They all have stories that may hold back lesser folks . . . we all have stories. Don't we.
I am not sucking up. What are they going to do? Give me a raise??? Yes. At the risk of sounding _______ (insert your own word) They do raise me up. They inspire me to be a doer not a watcher, they inspire me to share, even my mistakes and that it is all ok it will work out if you press on.

I get the most inspiration from old movie sets and props. I have been known to pause movies to photograph interesting sets for design, use of color or "How did they do that?". Creating an atmosphere that transports viewers to another place and time. Sets on old variety shows. Sets, too, on current shows.

New projects are always exciting and inspiring. Research, sketching, imagining projects completed and how they will be used whether daily or seasonally. I wholeheartedly dive in whether for a client, a gift, for sale or sometimes just my own entertainment.

I am inspired by other artists - living the creative life and children's art and view of the world around them. Inspiration is everywhere.

I am inspired by just painting, jumping in with both feet and getting dirty!
