I'm a self taught artist/designer. Best known for Christmas, Halloween, Fantasy, Folk Art images and Papier Mache. I license and sell original art. Also design for home decor and textile markets.

Questions

What mediums do you prefer to work in?

Currently I'm working in watercolor, colored pencil and ink. Over the years I've enjoyed sculpting papier mache, oils, quilting, stenciling, and other forms of creating. I also design and have licensed craft and plush animal patterns. For a time I considered myself a teddy bear and doll artist. Creating vintage looking mohair bears and primitive dolls was a lot of fun. I worked for myself and licensed to a couple of companies. Still have a few favorite teddies and dolls living with me.

Who are your favorite artists and why do they inspire you?

I greatly admire Georgia O'Keeffe and Frida Kahlo, but my style is probably more influenced by all the classic artists I found in art books I read as a child. Since my family deals in antiques along with my love for traditional quilts, my biggest inspiration comes from folk art. I absolutely am smitten and inspired when I find a piece that speaks to me.

What gives you inspiration?

I find inspiration everywhere. Although I'm self taught, I am blessed to have zillions of ideas and images floating in my head most of the time. I see art in my dreams. I keep a sketch pad by my bed. My biggest challenge is finding the time to create all the art I already have in my mind's eye.
