A group of us have been making cards for the children in local hospitals. We first started help with the Ronald McDonald house by going to the hospital and making cards with the children.
A little boy was wheeled into the craft room and I asked him if he wanted to make a card. He had been in a accident and had been badly burned. He said his arm urt too much so he would just watch.
I started stamping snowflakes all over the white cardstock. I used a stipple brush to transfer the blue ink from the stamp pad to the edges of the card. He thought that what I was doing looked like fun so he got brave enough to try it.
he used his left arm to support his right arm as he carefully reached over for the stipple brush. a few moments of gently tapping the brush to the ink pad then to the cardstock was all he needed to see it was working well and it was beginning to be FUN! Soon he was vigorously pounding the ink pad and smashing it onto his paper, I leaned back in my chair and watched him and there was NO Pain on his face. He was really enjoying his self.
This first experience over 5 years ago had inspired me to do more. I have been hosting cards for the kids events each month and I would LOVE to see us do more.
the blind center needs cards, the homeless elementary school children would love some cards too. I want to do more but I NEED YOU.
can you help? If you will, sign up here and let's make a difference, one card at a time!
