For as far back as I can remember I have loved little treasures, such as beads or anything that will fit into the palm of my hand!

My Great Aunt was a teacher in a high school in the 40's and 50's and back then every one gave the teacher a gift at Christmas and at the end of the year. Now my aunt loved jewelry so she got tons of it for over a 30 year career and she saved every piece!
Every Christmas from about the time I was 6 she would give me a box of jewelry to do with what ever I wanted, and I could hardly wait to open it.
Needless to say I was the envy of the little girl dress-up set! How I loved to play with it and as I got older I started taking things apart and making creations and Oh Boy was I hooked!

I've dabbled in many mediums over the years but I have never been able to nor have I wanted to stop making jewelry.
For over 25 years I have been making jewelry under  Jewel Fire Designs and have loved every minute of it---well, there have been a few days hear and there that I have wanted to throw things but overall its been very satisfying career.

I also love anything vintage so take a look at my vintage shop on Etsy! Lagrandmere

What mediums do you prefer to work in?
I love working with bright bold materials that have lots of depth and texture. My designs tend to have a ethnic and natural look to them. I also love anything vintage or antique and love the hunt for treasures to incorporate into designs. I have been collecting antique buttons for many years and love beading and transforming them.
Hands down I love copper and use it most of the time and tend to mix that with sterling and brass. I love it all!
Who are your favorite artists and why do they inspire you?
There are many talented artist out there today but a couple that come to mind are dye diana dye and her unique style of fabric and textile dyeing. I also love the amazing art by Tinctory with her amazing tiny fabric creations. Art Russell is a wonderful folk art painter among other things she paints. There are many more whom I just love and take inspiration from.
What gives you inspiration?
Probable more than anything is nature and the wonderful colors and textures that is all around us. For the most part its just a deep need to create!
