My name is Jo Connolly and I started Garden of Daisies Embroidery 13 years ago when my daughter's Irish step dancing school was in need of embroidered costumes. I was the "mom in the lobby" who raised her hand when the teacher asked if anyone knew how to sew. In the beginning, we had a commercial embroiderer stitching out the motifs while we constructed the dresses. We soon realized that it was difficult to control the quality of the finished product if we weren't doing every bit ourselves. So...the first of many embroidery machines was purchased and here I am.

Over the years, my embroidery business has evolved and grown and taken me down many different and interesting paths. I am a contributing writer to Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine, which has helped me realize that not only do I love to sew and embroider, but I love to write about them as well.

An industry award, my published articles and some good press have made me feel like I might be doing something right. I certainly am doing what I love and loving what I do.

Garden of Daisies continues to grow and offers original machine embroidery designs. My newest division, Seedling Sewing Patterns, offers patterns that are desinged with the creative sewer in mind.

You can check out my latest designs here -> http://www.gardenofdaisies.com/ and here -> http://www.oregonpatchworks.com/collections.php?id=GOD .

I'm also an avid collector of vintage sewing books. :)

I LOVE to talk sewing and embroidery and have "been there, done that" for almost any embroidery situation you can throw at me, so feel free to be in touch!!

Happy stitching!!
Jo Connolly

What mediums do you prefer to work in?
For the machine embroidery designs I create, I work mainly with quilt-weight cottons -- prints and solids. Although I'm not really a quilter, these fabrics lend themselves perfectly to the applique and machine work I do.
Where do you sell items locally or nationally?
I sell my digitized machine embroidery designs online.
What gives you inspiration?
Colors are what speak to me most. I love combining colors and feel most accomplished when I achieve a fresh and fun look.
