"A person with a hobby is a person whose life is interesting. Psychologists say that the development of an absorbing hobby, particularly one involving the use of the hands, is one of the most important elements in leading a well-balanced and well-integrated life. When the mind and the hands are occupied with the creation of something useful and attractive, there is no room for discontent, boredom, petty worries, fears and jealousies, and there are few pleasures to equal the sense of accomplishment of holding in one's hands the skillfully finished product of one's own effort."
I read the above quote in an antique Singer Sewing book and have found it true in my life. I have always been creative and dabbled in just about every craft imaginable. A day without creating is a sad day in my house. I have been a sewer since I was a very small child. I became a professional seamstress in the 1980's and began designing wedding dresses in the 1990's. I have also taught sewing both in the private sector and the Community College arena. When I discovered Scrapbooking in 2001 I , found a new passion where I could use every technique I have learned in every other craft I did. My husband and both my grown sons are photographers, so there is always a picture that needs it's story told. I began using my camera on a daily basis about 3 years ago. Now I am also considered by many to be a photographer. I love adding dimension to my photos, by creating mini albums and using lots of textures. I have been married to Mike for almost 30 years. We have 2 married sons and three wonderful grandsons who are the most beautiful and smartest babies in the world. IMO
In addition to my artistry in many mediums, I enjoy hiking, playing pool, and spending time with our dogs.
