What mediums do you prefer to work in?
Paper mache...primarily a heavier textured paper mache that looks vintage.
Who are your favorite artists and why do they inspire you?
Favorite artists?...Matisse would be toward the top because of his experimention with cut out paper and flat broad use of color; then Picasso for his experimentation with collage and love of the African masks; Van Gogh for his color and expressive brush work; Degas for his diagonal compositions, use of color and sense of modernism; Toulouse Lautrec for his expressive color and interior lighting creating mask like qualities on his subjects; Moore for his expressive shapes and forms interacting within the space they are placed, Calder for his playfulness and use of motion; Cezanne to remind me not to lose form in my paintings, Gauguin for his sense of the exotic and many more for a variety of other reasons.
What gives you inspiration?
Halloween, holidays, nature, my husband, animals, people and believing my work should be joyous and whimsical.
