My name is Joyce Lucas.
I am the founder of the Pink Slipper Project.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of women and children are forced to leave their homes and seek safety and healing in shelters across the country. Through participation with the Pink Slipper Project, you can make a difference in the lives of a few of those women and children and remind them that someone is thinking of them. They are not alone.

We are so excited to be moving into our second year of The Pink Slipper Project. We hope that the challenges we post and the contributions that we receive will inspire you to help us heal hearts and warm toes of women and children everywhere that have had their lives touched by domestic abuse.

What Is the Pink Slipper Project?

Inspired by Terry Grahl of Enchanted Makeovers, and hand-in-hand with the the members of Make Mine Pink, the Pink Slipper Project is an endeavor to warm the hearts and the toes of women and children living in shelters. Our goal is to provide hand-made slippers to as many women and children that we possibly can.

One of our top priorities is to continue working closely with with Enchanted Makeover’s shelter projects, providing warm slippers to the residents of each makeover project. As time and donations allow, we will open our arms wide to as many women’s and children’s shelters that we can provide for.

Not only will these handmade slippers help keep the recipients warm, they will be a daily reminder that someone cared enough about them to make something special just for them. It's really true, a simple kindness goes a long way in the healing process.

Your slipper contributions don't need to be pink, and they don't need to be made using our one seam rag slipper pattern, but they do need to be handmade, warm and, of course, new.

What mediums do you prefer to work in?
I love to work with beautiful fabrics.
Where do you sell items locally or nationally?
We donate all slippers that we make or that are donated to the Pink Slipper Project, to women and children's shelters.
What gives you inspiration?
I started the PSP began after being inspired by working with Terry Grahl of Enchanted Makeovers. I found that making a difference, even a small one, in the lives of women and children that have had their lives effected by domestic violence, is not only rewarding and heartwarming, it gives me an opportunity to show love and compassion to others in need. Others that may be feeling very alone. A small kindness goes a long way in helping to heal a broken heart.
