Rayela Art is the marriage of many of my interests: Textiles and economic development. I make things when I can, but mostly I work online selling cultural textiles and supplies that I buy or that I represent. I currently manage three stores on Etsy:
Central Asian beads, jewelry and textiles.
Textile stamps from Namibia

In February, 2010, I launched TAFA: The Textile and Fiber Art List. TAFA seeks to help peer textile and fiber art businesses increase their visibility through social media and by creating a visual database of the membership. One of the unique things about TAFA is that cultural textiles and contemporary fiber art share the same platform. We have our community on facebook and a group on Flickr.

What mediums do you prefer to work in?
I work mostly with fabric, but also do other things, like weaving with paper. I like to use recycled materials and vintage ethnic textiles.
Who are your favorite artists and why do they inspire you?
My inspiration comes mostly from unknown artists from developing countries. I've worked with cultural textiles for over 20 years and love them.
What gives you inspiration?
Detail, texture, color.
