Blog comming soon!! I need to find some extra time, whew!!
I worked professionally in the Graphic Arts industry after college, but I always found myself drawn to more “crafty” type things. So....I kind of found my way into custom picture framing! I have worked in the art and professional picture framing industry 20+ years now.
When the economy went south a few years ago, I left retail and into a new full time career with a wonderful Ohio company - but, I also moved all of my necessary picture framing materials into my basement and set up shop part time to keep my creative spirits going!
I have a dedicated work space to create my own artwork now, and I am very excited to see where this new journey will take me!
What mediums do you prefer to work in?
Acrylic, mixed media, paper clay. I love to find any type of vintage item to use in my creations, like an old cupboard door panel, an old shelf, or a great piece of vintage text. I love color and texture.
Who are your favorite artists and why do they inspire you?
Hmmm...so many!!
I think one of my favorite artists has to be Marc Davis - he was a legendary Disney animator and one of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men". He was also an Imagineer and responsible for designing the Haunted Mansion (my all time favorite ride). I think my love of Halloween started with the Haunted Mansion. I had the honor of meeting and spending time with Marc - he was an amazing man!
In the Halloween world - Johanna Parker, Kristen Beason, and Scott Smith only to name a few (but there are so many wonderful artists out there)! They all have their own unique style that is so recognizable. Their attention to every detail right down the the packaging is just remarkable!
I am also a huge fan of Don Drumm, I spend a lot of time shopping at his gallery!

What gives you inspiration?
The Fall, nature, being outdoors - I love noticing textures everywhere I go, like a old rusted piece of metal or a great painted antique cupboard. Art is all around us, you just have to take time to stop and look!
